Active Construction Projects

The San Bernardino Municipal Water Department’s Engineering Section develops and implements the Department’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP) throughout the design and construction phases for  water utility, sewer collection, and wastewater treatment infrastructures.

SBMWD’s construction management team will closely monitor construction activities in order to minimize community impacts and ensure all work is done within normal construction guidelines.

SBMWD understands that construction can create an inconvenience to neighbors and businesses. Messages received after normal business hours will be returned between 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the next business day.

State Route 66 Water Facilities Relocations

The State of California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes to rehabilitate the roadway along State Route 66 (SR-66) from Pepper Avenue to "H" Street, spanning approximately 3.1 miles. In accordance with Caltrans' policy, the project also incorporates "complete streets elements" that are targeted to expand equitable and sustainable mobility statewide. The Department owns and operates numerous sewer and water pipelines within Caltrans' right-of-way that conflict with the proposed highway improvements. Therefore, SBMWD utility infrastructure relocations are necessary to accommodate the construction of the proposed SR-66 improvements by Caltrans.
